Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek was born in Mexico, to parents of Spanish and Lebanese descent. She was born into an affluent Roman Catholic family from Mexico. At the age of a young girl, she was inspired to be an actress watching the film "Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.' She felt ready to step into the world of films after attending Mexico City's 'Universidad Iberoamericana.' The first role she had as an actress was in the Mexican telenovela, 'Teresa.' When she moved to Hollywood the actress was selected as the role of Antonio Banderas in the movie "Desperado.' After that, she was cast in 'Fools Rush In" and "Wild West', among other. In the film 'Once Upon A Time in Mexico the actress reprised the role of 'Desperado. Later, she founded her own production house called Ventanarosa. Her debut film was the Mexican "El Coronel, No Tiene Quien Le Escriba.' It became Mexico's official film submission to the Oscars for 'Best Foreign Film. She also served as the executive producer of 'Ugly Betty.' Her nomination was for Outstanding Guest actor (Comedy Show) at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards. The endorsements she has received include Revlon as well as Avon along with her line of hair, cosmetic, and skin products named Nuance. She helped raise money for vaccines that can prevent neonatal or maternal tetanus.
